Band Biography

Darwin Indie Rock outfit 'JASMINE REVOLUTION' parted ways in 2013, however the history will remain.

Formed in April 2011, JASMINE REVOLUTION has quickly created a fresh vibe of original music in the form of energetic and progressive dynamic Indie Rock.
With the influence and energy from the local Darwin music scene at Nirvana Jam Night and a recent travel pilgrimage to family ties throughout Greece and Egypt, Singer Songwriter Alex Moraitis dusted off the six string and revamped a selection of tunes to form an exciting new Darwin based original Indie rock outfit.
JASMINE REVOLUTION is uniquely formed with Darwin local musicians; Lachlan Parsons, Stuart Higlett and Callum Munro.
The band offers a dynamic sound as all members are creative singer sound writers.
A new sound has been unleashed which has put a spark in the air of Darwin’s original music scene.

JASMINE REVOLUTION’s inaugural EP launch was launched on Saturday 21st April 2012 at the Darwin Railway Club [Somerset gardens, Parap]. Massive turn-out and vibes helped the boys pump out a solid set to a bouncy crowd, epic night!
The guys have worked hard to  finalise their recordings and design work to produce an extended play (EP) record, consisting of 6x original, dynamic and unique tracks written by multiple band members.

The album’s title has been proudly named ‘Sounds from the Purple Chair’.

The recordings, mastering, design work and photos were all done locally in Darwin.
The boys are proud to have kept it local and thank: Lindsay Masters (from Lindsay Masters Studio) – Penny Rose Wiggins for the design - Brett Amezdroz for the mastering and Lucy Found for the band pics – and last but not least the lads from
JASMINE REVOLUTION for all their efforts to date (Alex Moraitis-Stuart Higlett-Lachlan Parsons-Callum Munro)..

Musical Meanings:

JASMINE REVOLUTION – The name given to the peaceful demonstration, or freedom of speech, which formed Egyptian democratic independence in the early months of 2011. With original music being freedom of speech, combined with a recent pilgrimage to Egypt by Alex Moraitis, the name Jasmine Revolution was appropriately formed.

PURPLE CHAIR – An old lounge chair sitting in Alex Moraitis’ music room, draped in a purple sheet to cover the wear and tear. The location where many songs were written.
